Meet Krysten
Krysten Copeland is an award-winning communications strategist and founder of KC & Co Communications, a small but mighty public relations consultancy based in Washington, DC and Brooklyn, NY. She manages firm operations along with strategic and tactical planning for clients within the political, tech and advocacy arenas.
Upon completion of her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Oakwood University in 2012, Krysten served as Communications Manager for DC Home Buzz, a boutique real estate firm in Washington, DC. Her strategic planning and tactical approach to integrated comms directly resulted in over $50M in real estate transactions within a one year period, up nearly 70% from the previous year. In 2014, Krysten joined Delucchi Plus as a Digital Marketing Manager where she led digital marketing efforts across social media for a portfolio of real estate clients worth around $16M.
Since launching her consultancy in 2015, Krysten's clients have included local, national and international entities. Due to her nimble yet scrappy approach, her clients have been featured in a variety of top-tier and niche publications, including The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Refinery 29, O! Magazine, Forbes, The Intercept, Techcrunch, NPR, Wired, NBC News, CBS News, The View and Essence Magazine, to name a few.
In 2017, she served as a Senior Advisor and Communications Director for Democratic challenger Kim R. Ford’s Congressional primary in Washington, D.C. Upon relocating to New York, Ms. Copeland helmed the communications efforts for DNC Vice Chair and Congressional candidate Michael Blake prior to serving as Communications Director for incumbent Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke’s winning race. Most recently, Ms. Copeland served in a senior leadership role on the high-profile NYC mayoral race.
Her clients have included President James Madison’s Montpelier, So Others Might Eat (SOME), American Institute of Architechs, National Cherry Blossom Festival, Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, cannabis entrepreneur Dr. Chanda Macias, Theatre Washington, real estate entrepreneur and HGTV host of DC Flippers Ati Williams, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, former Assemblyman Michael Blake, Transdev North America, remodelmate and a host of other tech, lifestyle, real estate, advocacy and political clients.
In addition to her work, she serves on the board of Pine Forge Academy, one of the four remaining African-American boarding schools in the U.S., and volunteers with Reading Partners, a children's literacy nonprofit. Additionally, she is regularly tapped as a speaker, panelist, and instructor.
